Lapvent Loft Ventilation

If your home has a loft, it’s important for this space to be ventilated. The reason that loft ventilation is an absolute necessity is because not allowing air to freely flow through this area will make it a prime target for excessive heat levels and moisture buildup. These issues can then cause everything from extended structural damage to mold growth. Fortunately, proper ventilation can prevent those problems from arising in the first place. For a long time, there were only a handful of ways to ventilate a loft. However, instead of continuing to settle for the options that were already available, Heritage Structural Ventilation decided to create a better way to ventilate a loft.

What is lapVent?

lapVent is a DIY solution for ventilating your loft and roof. Some of the features that make this option special are that it’s:

  • Stormproof
    • Retrofittable
    • Unobtrusive

While you want air to be able to flow through your loft, that doesn’t mean you want other elements to make their way into this space. That’s why it’s so nice to know that the lapVent is fully resistant to storms and other outdoor elements. While other ventilation options have a weakness for allowing in too many outdoor elements, that won’t be a problem you’ll face with this form of ventilation. One of the biggest issues with ventilating an existing home is finding options that don’t require you to tear your house apart.

Although it’s easy to add ventilation options to a new home that’s being built, the same hasn’t always been true for upgrading an existing structure. But thanks to the fact that the lapVent is completely retrofittable, you will be able to avoid heavy construction. And although you want to ventilate your loft, you don’t want to do it at the expense of making your home’s exterior ugly. That’s why homeowners are thrilled by the unobtrusive design of this new ventilation option.

How Does a lapVent Work?

A big reason why this ventilation option is so effective is because it has multiple components built into it. The components of the lapVent include a step flap valve, mesh, lightweight body, retaining wall, storm baffles, diffuser blades, underfelt, batten cavity and cladding. All of these components work together to provide a level of ventilation that is simply unmatched by other products on the market. Additionally, because they’re all rolled into the lapVent, this system will save you a considerable amount of time and money.

What Do You Need to Do to Install a lapVent?

Because it is a comprehensive solution, the lapVent is fairly easy to install. Heritage Structural Ventilation is able to explain the entire process with just six diagrams. Once a opening is cut for the lapVent, it can be slid into place. After that’s done, all that’s needed is to properly secure it. The final step is making a final tweak by folding the lapVent in a specific manner. This is done so that the lapVent is able to fully protect a loft from inclement weather conditions.
